"A Letter to Momo" is a 2011 animated movie created by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Kuroko no Basket, Haikyu) The dub is being made by GKids and it will be airing in select theaters this year.
The film is directed by Hiroyuki Okiura. Hiroyuki worked as key animator for works such as: Evangelion 3.0, Blood: The Last Vampire, and Akira. The film follows Momo Miyaura after her father's death. Her mother and she move to the remote island of Shio, her mother's childhood home. Momo attempts to make sense of her father's death and the letter that he left for her that says nothing else except, "Dear Momo." The island seems tranquil but three yokai appear that only Momo can see. Could these yokai somehow be connected to her father's death and his letter?
I am really excited for this film. The character designs are reminiscent of Ghost in the Shell which is a huge plus for me. GKids has worked on all of the English releases of Studio Ghibli's films (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle) and from the trailer, I am confident the dub will be excellent.
So what do you guys think? Does this film look like something you will be interested in? Do you like the dub? Let me know in the comments below.
